Disney vs Holiday Specials
Hey my lovely Chameleons. In today's blog I decided to do something way different then normal. I want to take this blog a chance to talk about Holiday Specials on Disney Channel. Not Christmas Specials, but Hanukkah & Kwanzza. Their is one show on Disney that has a Hanukkah Special instead of a Christmas Special and an episode that is both Christmas and Kwanzza. They even have Christmas Specials on Disney where the main cast member celebrates Christmas and their best friend celebrates Hanukkah.
Even Stevens - Even Stevens is the only Disney Channel show that dies not have a Christmas episode. It has a Hanukkah Holiday Special. This show, and The Proud Family inspired this blog. For any of you Chameleons who have not seen the episode, here's what it's about; Louis accidentally pushes the family's Hanukkah gifts out the window whilst trying to sneak a peek at them. When he is sent to his room as a punishment, the ghost of a long-dead relative appears to show him what life in the Steven's household would be like if he were not a part of it. So A Wonderful Life, Hanukkah style. I basically ignore this one every winter Holiday, just because I never really liked this show, and never got into it. This episode is called Heck Of A Hanukkah, and it is season 1, episode 15. Even Stevens was from 2000 to 2003.
The Proud Family - Usually when I do a Disney blog or when I did videos on Disney I stay away from animation, just cause I don't watch animation. But The Proud Family, along with The Even Stevens inspired me to do this blog. This is the only Disney show that has Kwanzza. For the Chameleons who never seen this episode, here's what it's about; When the Proud invite a homeless family over over for Christmas dinner, the family stays for 7 days of Kwanzza. I use to watch this show back in the early 2000's, but haven't watched this show for a very long time. While watching this episode I forgot how much I liked the show. This episode is called, Seven Days Of Kwanzza, and it's season 1, episode 11. The Proud Family was from 2001 to 2005.
Lizzie McGuire - Lizzie McGuire had 2 Christmas episodes, but the one I am going to talk about is Xtreme Xmas. Lizzie is determined to win the Best Float award at the Christmas parade with the help of Gordo and her family, but they are busy helping fix the pluming at an old people's home. The reason why this one is on the list, is because Lizzie's friend, Gordo is Jewish, but helps Lizzie with her float and Lizzie's parents to fix the bursted pipe at the retirement home.Yes, doesn't say he is Jewish in this episode, but in season 1, episode 31 was titled Gordo's Bar Mitzvah and you saw him transfer into a man. Lizzie McGuire is my favourite show on Disney Channel. This Christmas episode is called, Xterme Xmas, and it's season 2, episode 20. Lizzie McGuire was from 2001 to 2004.
Girl Meets World - Like in Lizzie McGuire their is also 2 Christmas episodes. For this blog I am going to be talking about, A Christmas Maya. Here is what this episode is about; Riley gets excited as Christmas approaches and organizes a Secret Santa between her group of friends. Maya confesses that the holidays bring back unhappy memories of her childhood. Riley invites Maya over to spread Christmas cheer. I added this episode because you see Riley giving Farkle a menorah for a gift. The reason why is because in Great Lady Of New York, season 3, episode 13 Frakle found out that his family is Jewish. Now he doesn't know what to celebrate and thinks that by Riley giving Frakle the menorah she is pushing him to celebrate Hanukkah instead. This Christmas episode is season 3, episode 18. Girl Meets World was form 2014 to 2017.
Sydney To The Max- Sydney To The Max is the more recent show to come from Disney and the first time I am talking about this show. Here is what this episode is about; With the help of the memory of her late mother and some long-forgotten advice. Sydney rediscovers her love of Christmas for the first time since her mother passed away. Like Lizzie & Girl Meets World Sydney's best friend, Olive celebrates Hanukkah. But Olive always wanted a Christmas tree. I binged watched this show and really liked it, even though I am on season 2. This episode is called, How The Sad Stole Christmas, and it is season 2, episode 1. Sydney started in 2018 and is still going.
The reason why you see a lot of Christmas episodes is because Christianity is the most popular. I remember when I was in elementary school I learned also a little about Hanukkah and Kwanzza. We even made dreiels. I love seeing that different Holidays are found in Disney shows and are interesting.
