Writer's From The Block 2

Hey my lovely Chameleons. In today's blogpost I am going to be talking about Writer's from The Block number 2, witch so happens to be the day before Good Friday. I came to the conclusion that my favourite way to spend my first and third Thursday of the month is at Writer's From The Block where you get to hear new up and coming singer/songwriters from Canada. In my last post about Writer's From The Block are only singer-songwriters in the GTA, that is not really true. One of the performers from Thursday, Amber J was from B.C.

How I heard about the next showcase (This one) is after I got back to Squid's house on April 4, I remember Not telling us that the next showcase was on April 18 and I realized after looking on the calendar that after April 18 was Good Friday. I asked Squid if I can come in on April 18 for the next Writer's From The Block/ Luckily I had no volunteering or work on Good Friday, so I can also use the Easter weekend as my April Toronto weekend, Thursday-Monday. Usually I would stay over in Toronto for one night and go to Toronto on another weekend. That month.

I come in on the Go Bus on April 18 around 7pm, drop my stuff off at Squid's and pick Ink up. We go down to the B-Side Lounge. They drop me off and they go 3 blocks down. Ok, fine, not important. I just want to say everything that happened on Thursday. Good thing is, we did not get lost this time lol. This week was also like a little The Launch party with Sarah Carmosino, Grace Bakker, Amber J, and Del Hartley. Grace Bakker was also on The Next Star in 2014, season 7, top 9. This time before I went to the show I ended up listening to everybody on YouTube. I mean, when I say everybody I actually mean Sarah & Grace. I couldn't really find the other 3 lol. I did however, make a playlist on YouTube titled Writer's From The Block and each second and fourth week I just add the new performers so I get familiar with their voices before the show. Here is the playlist, Writer's From The Block. I decided to make this playlist while listening to Sarah and I had scroll down pass a few covers to find her original songs.

Sarah Carmosino

Grace Bakker

Amber J

Valerie Borghesi

Del Hartley

When I got in I said hi to Noa, she said hi back. Sarah Carmosino performed first and I couldn't wait, cause I been listening to Sarah for the last 2 weeks. Grace performed next. When she was performing her last song, Room 403 I teared up. I did not cry. Also cause she was right there in front of me. The funny part was she blend the name Toronto and Etobicoke together by accident and then toning her guitar for half of her stage time. Before Amber J I went up to get another vodka and coke and ended up having a full conversation with Grace. I told her that her last song got me teared up and she was happy to hear that I been watching The Next Star way back in 2008 till 2014. We took pictures together. After we hugged I got my 2nd drink. When Amber went up I was like "Ok, that's Amber" (I thought the red head girl, Valerie was Amber for a bit). Before Del came on I met Sarah. I told myself that I was not going to tell her that I just listened to all her songs for the last 2 weeks. I told her that I listened to all her songs on YouTube for the last 2 weeks lol. Just like when I met Casey Holmes:
Me: I am not going to tell Casey about my YouTube.
Casey: What's your name?
Me: My name is Camille... Milly on YouTube & Twitter.
After I met Sarah I met Valerie. I told Valerie that she looks like Debrah Messing a little. After I told her that she pulled out her phone and looked her up and then showed Noa and said "This girl says I look like her" Noa saw what I meant and agree. At the end after Del finished I asked Valerie if we can have a picture. Then Squid and Ink picked me up from the B-Side Lounge.

Valerie & I

I look forward for the first and third Thursday of every month now. Since I said in my last blogpost of Writer's From The Block I love listening to new music from up & coming artists. Unfortunately I am not able to make the next Writer's From The Block Showcase on May 2nd. I will be back on May 16th.

The group picture came out better this time. Not blurry.

Happy Easter everyone.

After Review

Hey my lovely Chameleons. Today's blogpost is going to be another movie review, since my last movie review is about Kim Possible and before that Midnight Sun. My post about "Remakes" was a rant on remakes and telling you Chameleons about Everything Everything, Midnight Sun & Five Feet Apart. Video coming soon talking about though 3 movies. Anyway, off topic. This review is on the new movie, After.

After came out in theatres on April 12. For anyone who does not know what After is, it's based on a Harry Styles's Fan-fic from Anna Todd witch was written on Whattpad. Basically what the movie is, if 50 Shades Of Grey & Twilight had a kid. But with no vampires.

After Cast:
Josephine Langford as Tessa Young
Hero Fiennes-Tiffin as Hardin Scott
Samual Larsen as Zed Evans
Inanna Sarkis as Molly Samuels
Pia Mia as Tristan
Dylan Arnolds as Noah
Shane Paul McGhine as Landon Gibson
Swen Temmel as Jace

I first heard about this movie in December on Google. I typed 'Movies in 2019' and that is where I found this movie and some others, such as This Isn't Romantic. I wanted wanted to see this movie since I first read about the description of the movie and saw Josephine Langford's name, cause I love her sister, Katherine Langford and Love Simon. Witch Katherine plays in. In the start of January I found this girl named Laura (LovelyLikeLaura) on YouTube by a video about After. I watched the majored of her videos on After and made me excited to watch the movie in April.

I decided to go up to the movies the next day (April 13) and I didn't really like it. I mean some parts were interesting. Like when when Noah came to visit Tessa in college and Tessa slept with Hardin when Noah was in her dorm room. Now that was when the movie got interesting for me lol :) But that was basically about it. What I thought about Josephine, is she was plan and didn't bring anything to the movie. Sorry to say, but I didn't really like her. If anyone is thinking I don't like her cause of Katherine that is not true. I do however think that her sister, Katherine has more experience by being on a Drama Netflix series, 13 Reasons Why and then a huge Blockbuster movie, Love Simon. Josephine tried acting in a big move. Honestly the truth is the movie failed at 13% on Rotten Tomatoes. Before I forget, if you think you have seen Hero before, you did. He was the young Tom Riddle (age 11) in Harry Potter & The Half Blood Prince in 2009.

Here are some interesting facts about the movie, After:
1. Tristan was a male in the books, but made her a female in the movie
2. After started as a Harry Styles Fan-Pic on Whattpad by Anna Todd
3. Josephine Langford is Katherine Langford's younger sister
4. Josephine had only about a week or so to prepare for the role of Tessa, she read the books and the script on the plane
5. Hardin, Zed, Landon, Nate, & Logan are all based on the 1D band members
6. Hardin's character is based on Harry Styles looks only

Love Simon

Hey Chameleons. Today's post will be nothing you'd ever thought would say anything bad about Love Simon. But I need and want to rant.

On April 11th I was on Instagram and I came across this post, a few times on different Nick Robinson and Love Simon fanpages on Instagram. I was not happy. When I first heard this news I went straight to Twitter to express my anger. Then my sister-in-law. I was hangry, hungry and angry, but mostly angry. I was at my dentist waiting till 1, and I was schedule for 12 to get cavity filled, plus I was hungry for lunch.

If you Chameleons are lost or don't know what I am talking about I am going to tell you. Basically Disney+ bought the ownership rights to Love Simon. There were rumours that they would make this movie into a TV Series or a sequel, titled Leah On The Off Beat. I would admit that I would want a sequel, but it meeds to have the original cast and not owned by Disney.

Here are my rants... The first is Instagram and the one below is Twitter. Feel free to follow me on one or the other, or both if you would like. Everyone is welcome.

Ether last night or this morning from Becky Albertalli, the author of Simon Vs The Homosapien Agenda (Love Simon) on Instagram stating that she can now kinda talk about what's going on with Love Simon and Disney+. Albertalli sayid on her Instagram post"Thank you all so much for your patience with me - I’m finally allowed to talk about this (a little)! I’m SO excited to report that a Love, Simon spinoff is coming to the new Disney+ streaming service!! However, there is a ton of misinformation floating around. This series is NOT an adaptation of Leah on the Offbeat, nor is it a remake of Love, Simon. It is a spinoff set in the world of Simon..."

I am ok with spin offs, but not remakes. I loved Boy Meets World, and I watched Girl Meets World. I even watch Schooled, but never The Goldburgs. I am hoping that this is not a flop and it will stay true to the book in Simon's world.

Here is Becky's post.

I screenshoted Becky's post from my laptop and screenshoted of my rants from my phone

The spin off series comes out next year in 2020. Wow, 2020! Who do you think will be cast? or will they keep the same cast?

Writers From The Block

Hey my lovely Chameleon, in today's blog I decided that I will tell you about the first Writers From The Block and my experience. Writers From The Block was created by Noa, who was on The Launch season 2. We will get to The Launch soon in this post. Anyway, what I was saying is that Writers On The block focus up and coming Canadian artists in the GTA, Greater Toronto Area. No covers, just original songs.

Now that I told you Chameleons a little bit about what Writers From The Block is about, I am going to say how I found out about this event. On March 21 I was on Instagram going threw InstaStories. I was watching Ezra Jordan's and he posted that he will be playing at the event on April 4th in Toronto. Then I noticed in the post, CharlieThe Kid was performing too, he was from The Launch season 2. Then I see the name "Jayde" I forgot for a moment who she was, but I remembered seeing that name. Jayde was the runner up against Olivia Lunny. A few days later, I see the post from Writers From The Block InstaStory showing who all was playing. Justin Benololo was playing with Charlie, Jayde, Noa, & Chad.

Little did I know, that besides Charlie & Jayde, Noa & Chad where also on The Launch. Like wow! I felt like I was at a party for The Launch lol.

After Charlie, Jayde, and Noa (In that order) performed I went to Squid and explained that I remember who Charlie is and what season he was from, I just forgot what episode (Sorry Charlie if you are reading this) and then I looked behind Squid and saw Charlie. Then I looked at Squid and told him that I shouldn't of said that. Squid asked if he was behind him. I said yeah. After that Squid asked if I wanted to meet Charlie, cause he was standing behind Squid. I go up, introduce myself as Milly (My Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook all Milly Valvasori now). Charlie was happy that we finally met in person. We had a full on conversation about getting lost, Greyson Chance, The Launch, Shania Twain, & alcohol. You know, all the important stuff lol. I asked him if we can have a picture and that Squid will take it. After that I decided to go back in the crowd and listen to Chad. When everyone was done I went up to Jayde. I told her that I was telling myself that her new song is called Ultra Violence, not Ultra Violet (Fun fact; my eyes read faster then my brain) we laughed. Then I asked if we can take a picture. We did. We took pictures with her phone. Later she DM the pictures to me on Instagram.

I love seeing people I recognize and even hearing new new music

The group picture is blurry. I do not have a steady hand at times. I wanted to get the picture before all the performers were gone from the stage. Loved that I got these pictures with Charlie & Jayde. I also love that everyone I take a picture with bends down to my level lol. I smiled at Noa when Charlie was on and she smiled back

Writers From The Block is every first and third Thursday of the month at the B Side Lounge in Toronto.
