Disney Stars

Hey my lovely Chameleons. In today's blog I am going to tell you about Disney Stars. Not just Disney Stars, but the strict rules that they have to follow when they are apart of Disney. I had the idea of this blog a few days ago while remembering watching videos on YouTube about 25 Strick Rules Disney Stars must follow when they are on the network.

I started watching Disney channel when I was 9 when I started watching Lizzie McGuire (2001-2004). While watching the channel I never consider the rules that they had to follow. I did however, when I got order I was seeing a pattern.
The pattern was:
* Own show
Movie
* Music
Or it was:
* Guess Staring
* Own show
* Movie
* Music
Now you can add spin-off on that list
Boy Meets World = Girl Meets World
* That's So Raven = Cory In The House = Raven's Home
* The Suite Life Of Zack & Cody = The Suite Life On Deck
* Jessie = Bunk'd
Never seen spin-off
* Lizzie McGuire = What Stevie's Thinking = Lizzie McGuire 2

As you can see, I grew smarter or caught on with Disney Channel while watching the network for over a decade. It started to get annoying. One day I came across a video on YouTube talking about the rules that Disney Stars have to follow and why they always seems to have a 'Good people' image. And then go to rehab after in a few years down the road.

Rules:
1. Keep up with appearance
2. Date with in Disney
3. Female characters are a must
4. Social Media posts may need permission
5. Your name could be Disney's property
6. Classes on avoiding scandals are required
7. Song lyrics must be G or PG
8. Disney chooses your clothes
9. Disney controls your career
10. Competition is high
11. Salaries are non-negotiable
12. Don't get photographic compromising situations
13. Keep your voice youthful
14. Don't smoke
15. Get ready to sing
16. Play dumb in interviews
17. Autograph training
18. Prepare for long hours
19. No facial hair guys
20. No say in scripts
21. That motility Claus
22. Keep it covered up
23. Pay for your damaged mouse ears
24. You won't grow up
25. Don't be yourself

Keep up with your appearance - Especially for the women, Disney wants them to maintain the look they give you. Looks such as; by keeping a flawless look with there nails always being cut and short. If the girls hit puberty too quickly they can find themselves write out of their projects.

Date with in Disney - If you work for Disney, you can only date in the Disney bubble. Take Olivia Holt and Luke Benward, for an example. Luke Benward was in the DCOM Minutemen, Girl Vs, Monster, and Cloud 9 & Olivia Holt was on I Didn't Do It, Kickin It, and the DCOM Girl Vs. Monster with Luke Benward. The Disney company made them date. They dated for 3 years.

Female main characters are a must - Even if there are sometimes main male roles they will be crucial female roles. Like Brenda Song & Ashley Tisdale in The Suite Life Of Zack & Cody, Debby Ryan in The Suite Life On Deck, and Chelsea Kane & Nicole Anderson in Jonas & Jonas L.A were not the leads, but did play big important, crucial parts in the series.

Social Media posts may need permission - Disney needs to approve their stars Social Media posts so no details will get spoiled for up-coming projects. Then again, Disney wants their stars to use social media to let them know they have a new project, just to get the hype to. But Disney still needs to see the post first before it goes up.

Your name could be Disney's property - After a star signs on with Disney that also means that Disney can use the name for the main character. Just like:
Miley Cyrus = Miley Stewart
Raven Symone = Raven Baxter
Since Miley's character was Miley Stewart, it was hard cause when Miley wanted to release music under her name and not under Disney her mom caught this and hired a lawyer to get the right for her daughter to get the rights to her name again.

Classes on avoiding scandals are required - They train them on how to avoid scandals and training on social media.

Keep song lyrics G or PG - The reason why, is cause the network is geared towards kids and for them to escape the questionable content.whenthe Jonas Brothers were part of Disney the Jonas Brothers wrote there songs, but was heavily produced their lyrics. Even Joe said being alone with a girl was a big no, no.

Disney chooses your clothes - The styles doesn't just pick clothes for the characters, cause every Disney star is picked a stylize to even dress them for public appearances and interviews. The reason Disney does this, is to protect there image and to express themselves in there own clothes. When the stars step out of Disney that is why their styles changes drastically. I remember in September of ;last year, Dove Cameron went on the Jimmy Fallon show with an orange business suit on with no shirt under the business suit.

No shirt on the Jimmy Fallon show

Disney controls your career - When you sign with Disney, you can not do any projects outside of Disney. If you are a Disney Star on a Disney movie you can not work on anything else outside of Disney to conflict with the DCOM. However, if a Disney Star wants to do any other projects outside of Disney while filming their Disney show Disney has to approve.

Competition is high - Disney encourages competition on some of it's shows. When Bella Thorne was on Shake It Up said she was constantly focus to compete against Zendaya. Who's better at this type of thing. Honestly though, we always did that with Disney stars with our own opinions.

Salaries are non-negotiable - Young stars can't negotiable salaries themselves. When Miley Cyrus was on Hannah Montana, Miley was the lowest paid on the show. That was until the Hannah Montana movie.

Don't get photographed compromising situations - They don't want their stars to appear in any risky photos. Especially their female stars cause they don't want them to grow up too quickly. Vanessa Anne Hudgens got a revealing photo of herself leaked, even though she was over 18, she was still playing Gabrielle on High School Musical on the Disney Channel. That made Disney extremely unhappy about the leak.

Keep your voice youthful - Disney controls the stars on the way they speak and sound. When Bella Thorne was on Shake It Up she was told to speak in a higher voice, than her actual voice. And also for interviews too. Disney thought if she spoke in a higher voice, she will be more kid friendly and likeable.

Don't smoke - If you are with Disney you can not smoke. You can't even been seen with a cigarette. Doesn't mean it's not behind the scenes, but Disney will be upset if they catch you.

Get ready to sing - If you act on Disney, get ready to sing. They push everyone to sing. You don't have a choice. Shia LaBeouf decided to not go the singing route and left Dinner cause of that. After he left he did EVERYTHING to scrape the Disney image.

Play dumb in interviews - Disney teaches their stars to play dumb in interviews. So they can not spoil any up-coming projects or just saying "I don't know" to avoid answering questions they don't want to answer.

Autograph training - If anew Disney star does not have perfect penmanship they send them to training to perfect their signature.

Prepare for long hours - With being on Disney they are still required to do schooling & homework, if you are a child Disney star. They can even stretch to many hours long. Miley said that she spend so much time working with Disney, school, and homework her vitamin D was low. Her long work hours left her depress, and it got worse when she was 18 and became an adult.

No facial hair guys - If you are pass puberty, you need to shave all your facial hair off. Even though the guys are an adult they are still playing teenages. So they can not have any hair on their face. Even if you are promoting a Disney project you have to keep that face hairless. Except if you are playing a dad or Buttler and not a teenager, you can keep your facial hair.

No say on scripts - You have to do and say what your scripts say. When the Sprouse twins were filming The Suite Life on Deck the twins had some ideas for the storyline. The creators didn't like, or thought they were not interesting. So they did not accept their ideas, Just like that they decided to end their show.

That morality clause - When the Disney stars sign their contracts there is a strong Mortality Close. That is if the stars are involved with anything inappropriate or morally wrong Disney can fire them cause it's bad for there image.

Keep it covered up - Your skin has to be covered. No inappropriate, sexy, revealing clothes. When Bella Thorne was on Shake It Up she almost got fired, cause her mom took a picture of her wearing a bikini on the beach. Disney saw this and threatened to fire her over this.

This was the picture and swimsuit

Pay for your damage mouse ears - Back in the days the kids got Mickey Mouse ears. If they were broken they need to pay for them their selves.

You won't grow up - f you are a Disney Star and you are in your late teens or early 20's you are still obligated to play a teen in high school. When Joe Jonas was on Jonas (2009-2010) his character was 16, but he was really 20 at the time. It was hard for him too, cause people wold mistake him for a 16 year old, and not his real age.

Don't be yourself - Basically these rules mean, if you want to be a Disney star get ready to through your freedom away. Cause after you sign the contract Disney controls you and everything you do. Now that is sad.

It doesn't surprise me that theses Disney stars act out when they are let go. Here are a few example of Disney stars who acted out and here are a few that stayed sane after Disney. I'm not listing everyone, just the ones that I hear about.

Stars who acted out after Disney:
Brittney Spears
Miley Cyrus
Bella Thorne
Demi Lovato
Shia LaBeouf
Orlando Brown
Mitchel Musso
Lindsay Lohan
* Zac Efron
* Lalane
* Kelli Berglund
* Fergie
* Debby Ryan

Stars wo stayed sane after Disney:
* HilaryDuff
* Raven Symone
* Alyson (Aly) Michalka
* Emily Osment
* Ricky Ulman
* Sara Paxton
* Ashley Tisdale
* Anneliese Vanderpol
* Sabrina Carpenter
* Rowan Blanchard
* Peyton List
Cameron Boyce
* Dove Cameron
* Laura Marano
* Selena Gomez
* Alyson Stoner
* Skai Jackson
* Olivia Holt
* Luke Benward
* Zendaya

Even though I love the Disney Channel, my favourite part is when there contracts are over. You don't know if they'll act out or stay sane. I did read an interview of Bella Thorne saying, that she never wanted to become a Disney Star. She had to take the job to support her family. She had only $200 to her name and nearly living on the streets with her family.

The video I watched about the rules

If you really want to be a Disney Star, think twice to make sure you really want to.
