Stronger Together: Canada Edition
Hey my lovely Chameleons. In today's blog I am going to breakdown and review the Stronger Together: Canada Edition that was on TV on Sunday April 26, 2020. This was Squid's idea. He gave me the idea when we were watching American Idol after the special.
Before I get on to the blog I want to start off with a quote from Ryan Reynolds; "Today marks the 10 year anniversary of the quarantine we been on for the last 6 weeks.". Another thing before I go on to this blog. I heard of Lilly Singh a few times, I didn't know she was Canadian. Maybe cause I don't watch her and the first time I heard her was when she appeared on, Disney Channel's show, Bizaardvark. This blog is going to be lengthy. Just as warning.
I should start on why they did the special in the first place. It was to appreciate all the support form doctors, nurses, PSWs, first responders, food banks, grocery stores, & delivery drivers who are still out working. For that, we want to say a big thank you for your help. Through out the show you could donate money to your local food banks across Canada.
Michael Buble opened the show with a cover of We Got To Be Patient by the Barenaked Ladies. I thought it was a good opening for the show. After Michael performed, the cast of Schitt's Creek came on and after they said there part, Chris Elliot, whom is the only American on the show said that happy that the LCBO and beer stores are still open lol. Me too. I love my Caesars. Moving on. We are all social isolating and social distancing, but Russell Peters is taking an extra step by telling us he is social distancing from his family. For annoyance reasons lol. We thought this social isolation was only for 2 weeks. Jason Priestley was with us, by saying: Week 1 we were all cleaning out every closet in our house and by week 2 we were all getting creative, and being creative with our cooking. I deep cleaned my room... Kind of, and decorated my mirror in my room. For the other weeks I have been reading, blogging, and FaceTiming my sister in law, City, and making crafts a lot more. Bryan Adams performed, his song Shine A Light. After Jason was done talking. I listen to Stingray a lot and that is why I am familiar with Shine A Light ft Jennifer Lopez. Since J-Lo was not with him, he sang the song by himself.
I know I said that this special was partly about Food Banks across Canada, also in the special you hear what other strangers have done to help in this time of need. Just like Mehnaz Tabasssum, her 2 brothers, her sister, and her fiancé started Food For Thoghts to her out in the community and their food banks. Another Canadian, Jason Rochon, whom is an elementary school support assistant started Breakfast in A Bag in Nunavut. Here is another Canadian doing his part. J.P Kane is a Kindergarten teacher, and has been for 5 years now. Since this social isolation (distance) started on March 13th he decided since he missed the kids he did safe distance home visits to see them. Then he ended up doing classes on Zoom for the kids. Also in the special they had Julianne Lingan (39), Karen Shoemaker (74), Rene & Mary Galipeanl (75 & 70), & Matt Greenshield (19) who all got and survived Covid 19. They didn't talk to people who had the Covid 19, but they even talked to people who lived threw the Spanish flu & Scarlette fever. People such as: George P Allen (107), Margaret Rivers (101), Jemma Westsott (109), & Burdett Sisler (105).
Back to the special guest and performers. Tom Cochrane performed his song, Life Is A Highway. The first time I heard this song was from Rascal Flask and I like that version. Next after Tom performed Eric McCormack spoke and told us that his mom would love would be amazed of the work and determination with everyone. Then he made a joke that his dad would like to find a lot of empty parking in the busy downtown Toronto. Sarah McLachlan even performed. She performed, Blackbird. A Choir of Female Physicians Voices Of Rock performed a cover of Rise Again. Shaina Twain speaked on using Food Banks and how important it was for her growing up. She even performed her song, Up with a twist about Covid 19. City & Colour performed We Found Each Other In The Dark. For a while I didn't know if City & Colour was a band or just a stage name. I found out that it's just a stage name. Hamza Haq plays a doctor on a new show, Transplant. Goes without saying, that they are not real doctors. But what is real is that they donated the gloves, downs, and masks to a hospital in Montreal. After Hamza did his speech Charlotte Cardin performed a song in French. The song is Faufile. Randy Bachman performed Taking Care Of Business. Ever since I watched Sandlot 2 I can always picture David running after the dog with the song in the background. And it doesn't matter who sings it.
Amy Poehler's husband, Will Arnett came on and thought it was September, Amy came on and correct him. She even said that everybody on a team has an important job to do, even if you are just sitting on the bench. William Prince performed his song, Spark. Mike Myers gave himself a quarantine haircut, that looks lie he cut it with a knife and fork. He had a hat on to not show us his bad haircut. Jann Arden preformed her song, Sleepless. She wrote 20 years ago. The first time I saw Jann Arden was on The Launch when she was a couch, then I kept hearing her a lot on Stingray. After Jan Arden, Alessia Cara performed with her band to a cover of, You Got A Friend In Me. I remember Monster's INC whenever I hear it. Measha Brueggergos Performed You'll Never Walk Alone. She sounded like an opera singer.Next, David Foster performed St. Elmo's Fire ft. his wife.
When Howie came on, he was coming live from under his bed. He was playing Hide & Seek with his family, without telling them that they were playing Hide & Seek. He wanted them to Seek him. Marie May shaved her head for kids with Cancer. She also went down to the hospital to spend time with the kids. She even performed a song in French. Next, Burton Cunnings perfumed Share The Land.
After Quinn Callander heard stories about nurses and doctors had sore ears from wearing there masks he decided to invite the Ear guard , just so the straps are not sitting on their ears all day. To be honest, he should be on Shark Tank with the Ear guard. One of my favourite things is that Max, from the Arkells went to Ava's house, who was graduating university this year. Since grad was cancelled Max took another band mate with him to be Ava's grad photography for the day to surprise her and perform Years In The Making.
My main favourite part of the show was the cover of Lean On Me from a bunch of Canadian talented artists. Some of my favourites who sang on the cover is Avril Lavigne, Tyler Shaw, Olivia Lunny, Scott Hellman, & Justin Bieber.
