Hwy my lovely Chameleons. In today's blog I want to talk about the event that happened on Thursday, October 21, 2021 with Alec Baldwin and what happened on the set of his new movie, Rust. Before I do, I want to say why I have no weekend blogs this weekend and last weekend. Last weekend I was focus on burning all my music from my Best Of 2021 playlist on 10 CDs and this weekend I am focusing on making sure Dodge gets better. I took Dodge to get fixed on Thursday. I did want to do a Music Review on Tenille Arts new CD that came out yesterday, But I want to talk about the event that happened on Thursday involving Alec Baldwin. This is not a rant. I am going to say everything what happened and my thoughts on what should happen with Alec and the crew. Oh, and Alec was going to produce this movie with his production team.
On Thursday, October 21, 2021 in Santa Fe, New Mexico, Alec Baldwin was on the set of his new movie, Rust. In this movie he plays Harland Rust. The movie is about Harland Rust rescues his 13 year old grandson, Lucas whom is sentence to be hung cause of a murder he committed. The movie was set to come out in November of this year, but I think it will come out next year.
At 1:29pm on Thursday Alec was shooting a scene and was handed a prop firearm gun. Now, if you use guns on sets they are not to have real bullets and are filled with blanks. Fake bullets (Don't know a better name) and accidentally killed the cinematographer, Haylina Hutchins and injured the director, Joel Souza.
At 1:50pm on the same day the Santa Fey's Sheriffs office was called about a real shooting on the movie set of Rust. They called a helicopter to pick up Haylina to take her to University of New Mexico hospital and was pronounced dead. An ambulance took Joel to Christus St. Vincent Regional Medical Centre for his injuries.
We got more updates the next day, that Hannah Gutierre Reed, the prop person set three guns on the cart outside where they were shooting. According to the search warrant the assistant director, Dave Halls brought one of the guns to Alec, not knowing it was loaded with real live bullets. Dave said that the gun was a "cold gun". On the same day, October 22, Alec wrote on Twitter in 2 tweets "1- There are no words to convey my shock and sadness regarding the tragic accident that took the life of Haylina Hutchins, a wife, mother, and deeply admired colleague of ours. I'm fully coopering with the police investigation to address how this tragedy occurred and" and continued the tweet by "2- I am in touch with her husband, offering my support to him and his family. My heart is broken for her husband, their son, and all who knew and loved Haylina". Like he stated in those tweets he is supporting her family and helping out with this investigation.
I do think Alec is to blame. I believe that Hannah or who ever else that deals with the props are to be blamed. Also cause Alec didn't know that the gun was loaded. Maybe since him and his team are going to produce this movie they might get blamed little bit. But I don't think that is right. With everything that has and is still happening I think they should hold off filming the rest, producing, and releasing this movie for quite a while till they find of what happened. This was not Alec's fault. He didn't know. I feel so sorry for Haylina's family, and for everyone who worked on this movie.
There has been no new updates that I have seen since Friday. Until now. Watch video below.
